Isn’t it amazing how we can sit down to attend a training to learn something to teach to our clients and find ourselves thinking, “Wow, these skills are exactly what I need for my business/life/coaching!”
This is exactly what happened for the participants in this week’s webinar “How to Help Your Clients Be More Persuasive” with Ralph Brown.
Ralph Brown is an expert in communication skills. It is said that often the best trainers are those who are able to take what many feel is a difficult or complex topic and communicate it in a simple manner and this skill is exactly what Ralph has. His previous career in journalism together with a passion for sharing the principles of the Psychology of Success has allowed him to dedicate his organisation, Skillset NZ, to training thousands of Australians and New Zealanders in business in the arts of communication and leadership over many years.
Ralph gave us a fabulous definition of the word ‘persuasion’ which moved away from the misconception of making or forcing people do things and rather moved towards the idea that persuasion is merely encouraging people to stick with us while we help them achieve what they want to achieve. His presentation is packed full of useful tools for persuasion, including writing so people will read and handling objections as well as Cialdini’s 3, easy to remember, ‘Weapons of Influence’: The Principles of Likeability, Social Proof and Scarcity. Tools we can go away and teach to our clients? Yes, most definitely. But all these are tools we can implement in our own businesses and personal lives instantly: A must watch for all coaches if they want to add to their coaching toolkit AND reap the personal rewards as well.
