Professional Development Rules

It is important to understand the difference between personal development (what you want to achieve in your personal life), business development (anything that focuses on improving your business skills and knowledge) and professional development (the studies you undertake specifically relating to your profession).

The ANZI Coaching professional development requirement relates specifically to the development of your coaching skills and knowledge. It does not include any studies you do that are not related to coaching (such as speaking skills, training skills, etc) and it does not include any studies you do which relate to growing your business (such as learning social media, developing your elevator pitch or learning how to create a website).
The types of activity you can include are home study courses, qualifications, workshops, webinars, researching, etc. Any form of training or study which focuses on the art of coaching. These can be completed outside of ANZI Coaching.

We do not accept casual activities such as ‘reading’ or ‘surfing websites’ (unless these activities are performed as part of a research paper.

You can include the coaching webinars that ANZI Coaching provides which focus on coaching topics. You cannot include the coaching webinars that ANZI Coaching provides which focus on non-coaching topics such as sales and marketing skills or developing a business mindset.

Examples of evidence include completion certificates and receipts for registrations. You do not need evidence for attending ANZI Coaching webinars.

Coaching Hours Rules

The coaching hours requirement covers any coaching you provide of 45 minutes or longer and includes paid coaching, on-job coaching, reciprocal coaching and pro-bono coaching.
Keep a record of all of your coaching hours. Keep in mind the requirements of the Privacy Act which governs the type of data you may retain and the rules relating to this. We are looking to see a viable log of all your hours. You do not have to provide your clients’ information. For example, you can use the first three letters of their surname for the purpose of you being able to identify them and then record the invoice number you generated as your evidence.

Supervision Requirements Rules

You can attend supervision with Coaches who do the same type of coaching as you or who are accredited at the same level, or you can choose ‘pot luck’ on an open class.
AAC Coaches must complete 10 hours of Supervision per year. AACs can either complete ANZI Coaching group sessions or can elect to work one-to-one with an ANZI Coaching approved Facilitator of Supervision. Each group session counts as 2 hours.

APC Coaches must complete 6 hours of Supervision per year. APCs can either complete ANZI Coaching group sessions or can elect to work one-to-one with an ANZI Coaching approved Facilitator of Supervision. Each group session counts as 2 hours.
AMC Coaches must complete 1 ANZI Coaching Group Supervision per year.

For more information about Supervision, please visit the What is Supervision page.

Contribution

AMCs must demonstrate their ongoing contribution to the coaching industry. Activities include anything that help to raise standards or awareness (such as research or teaching) or that help other coaches to grow and develop their skills (such as training, assessing, mentoring, etc).

We would encourage all AMCs to contribute within the ANZI Coaching community and as such invite you to present webinars and/or to provide articles and coaching tools and resources.
