General descriptions for Accredited Membership Levels

Accredited Associate Coach (AAC) : Generally, (but not always), an AAC is an entry level coach who has recently completed their studies or is in their first few years of professional coaching. They may have a coaching role within the workplace or they may work for themselves. They may or may not have set up their own business as yet.

Accredited Professional Coach (APC): Coaches at this level will perhaps have more experience and may hold higher qualifications. They are likely to have been coaching professionally for 3-5 years or more. They are usually a practicing coach, either in a workplace coaching role or as contractors or coaching providers. They generally are earning an income derived from coaching activities.

Accredited Master Coach (AMC): Coaches at this level have a high level of experience and expertise. They may manage a coaching operation such as a team of workplace or external coaches or oversee a coaching panel. AMCs are at the highest level of accreditation and as such they are expected to share their skills and knowledge through some form of contribution to the coaching industry. Contribution includes activities such as mentoring, training, assessing, conducting research or any other activity that helps coaches to grow or assists the coaching industry to develop.

How does the Assessment Work?

The Assessor will start by talking to you about your experience and qualifications and where possible will credit you for any existing evidence you can provide. In most instances, the easiest process, and the most beneficial process for you, is to have the Assessor observe one of your coaching sessions. He or she can then provide you with feedback in your strengths and areas of improvement whilst also ticking off the boxes for the assessment. The Assessor is responsible for exploring all of the areas of competency, and as such, may set you assignments or ask you questions about your coaching practice.

How long does the process take?

You have a maximum of 3 months or 3 attempts in each competency. At the end of this time your assessment will expire.
